This study suggests GLP-1 drugs may be worth discussing with a doctor for fatty liver disease.
Older adults with fatty liver disease who started a GLP-1 drug had about half the death rate of those who did not. Researchers matched around 44,000 people over 65 on each side using US medical records, tracking them up to 10 years. Liver complications and hospital stays were also lower, though heart events were not. This was not a randomized trial, so other differences between the groups could explain part of the gap, and some side effects like eye problems were more common.
