What is Longevity Shanghai?

Longevity Shanghai is a free, science-based community for people in Shanghai who want to stay healthy for longer. The Shanghai chapter of Longevity Cities started in July 2026 with the city's first Walk & Talk along the Huangpu River. The meetups are made for people who like movement, good coffee and honest conversation about living well. No medical background needed.

Saturdays set the rhythm. Coffee Raves mix good coffee, relaxed music and light movement, from an edition at the BLOC climbing gym to a Taichi Rave on Hengshan Road and a Pilates class led by a community member. Evenings bring the After Hours walks and a 5K night run along Suzhou Creek, followed by free refreshments or healthy mocktails at a bar nearby.

Joining is free: create an account, join the Shanghai WhatsApp group linked on this page and pick a date in the calendar. Longevity Shanghai is a community, not a longevity clinic. People come here to learn, compare notes on check-ups and tests, and meet others who take health seriously.

Frequently asked questions

What is Longevity Shanghai?
Longevity Shanghai is the Shanghai chapter of Longevity Cities, a free and non-commercial community for healthy ageing. It began in July 2026 with a Walk & Talk on the Huangpu River and has grown into a Saturday routine of coffee raves, movement sessions, evening walks and runs. Anyone curious about living well for longer can join, no scientific background required.
Is there a longevity clinic or longevity doctor in Shanghai?
Shanghai has private clinics and hospital departments that sell comprehensive health check-ups, but Longevity Shanghai is not one of them: we are a free community and do not diagnose or treat. Prices vary widely, so ask for a full itemised price including follow-up tests and supplements. A good sign is a named physician who is responsible and can explain what each result would change for you.
Where can I test my biological age in Shanghai?
There are three routes: an epigenetic age test (lab-based or by post, availability varies), an extended blood panel through a hospital or private clinic, or fitness markers such as VO2max and grip strength, which you can estimate for free with the tools on this site. Epigenetic clocks differ between providers, so treat one result as a snapshot. Some meetups also run a short Longevity Check with grip strength against age norms.
What longevity events and meetups are there in Shanghai?
Longevity Shanghai meets on many Saturdays. Past meetups included the Walk & Talk along the Huangpu River, Coffee Raves at cafes and a pizza bar, a Climb & Coffee Rave at BLOC, a Taichi Rave, Pilates & Rave, After Hours walks along Suzhou Creek and a Night Run & Chill. After the Coffee Rave of 19 September 2026 the group took a two-week holiday break. New dates appear in the calendar on this page.
Are there yoga, Pilates or tai chi sessions in Shanghai?
Longevity Shanghai is not a studio, but movement is part of many mornings. Past sessions included a guided Taichi Rave led by Vesper on Hengshan Road and a full-body Pilates class for all levels led by community member Kate. No yoga class has been listed yet, so follow the calendar if that is what you are after. Beginners are welcome, and listings say when to bring a mat.
Is there a running or walking group in Shanghai?
Yes: Longevity Shanghai walks and runs along the water. The Walk & Talk covers about 5 km along the Huangpu River with an optional brunch, the After Hours walks follow Suzhou Creek after dinner, and the Night Run & Chill is a relaxed 5K on the same creek with free refreshments afterwards. You can skip the run and join at the end. In typhoon season the organisers watch the forecast and post changes.
Where can I find a biohacking or longevity community in Shanghai?
Longevity Shanghai is a free place in Shanghai to talk longevity, preventive medicine, fitness, nutrition and biohacking with people who share the interest. The mix of movement, music and conversation keeps it practical rather than dogmatic: you try things together and compare what works. Between meetups, questions and news go to the Shanghai WhatsApp group linked on this page.
How can I meet new people in Shanghai?
Longevity Shanghai is a low-pressure way to meet people in Shanghai: a Saturday morning walk, coffee and light music make it easy to start a conversation, and the music at the Coffee Raves is kept low enough to talk. Coming alone is fine. All adults are welcome, and most meetups end with time to hang out over coffee, brunch or a drink.
Are Longevity Shanghai events in English or Chinese?
Longevity Shanghai announces its meetups in English, which suits internationals in the city, and lists each venue with its Chinese address so you can show it to a taxi driver or paste it into a map app. Each listing gives the date, time, meeting point and format, so you know what to expect before you go.
What does Longevity Shanghai cost and how do I join?
Longevity Shanghai is free to join: create an account, join the Shanghai WhatsApp group linked on this page and pick a Saturday in the calendar. Several formats include free drinks or refreshments, and you pay only for what you order yourself. Extras are stated upfront: at the Climb & Coffee Rave at BLOC the rave was free to enter, while climbing cost 100 yuan including shoes and insurance.
