What is Longevity Tokyo?

Longevity Tokyo is a free, science-based community for people in Tokyo who want to stay healthy for longer. It is the Tokyo chapter of Longevity Cities and starts with the simplest habit there is: walking together and talking. Residents, newcomers and visitors are welcome, and no medical background is needed.

The first announced meetup is Walk & Sip on Sunday, 11 October 2026 at 10:00. It starts at Matcha Stand Maruni in Tsukiji, grab a drink, then walk about 5 km through the neighbourhood to Hama-rikyu Gardens (admission 300 yen plus your own drink). The event is hosted in English and Japanese, so both language groups can join the same conversation.

Joining is free: create an account, join the Tokyo WhatsApp group linked on this page and check the calendar for the details. Longevity Tokyo is a community, not a longevity clinic. People come here to learn, compare notes on check-ups and tests, and meet others in the city who care about staying healthy.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is Longevity Tokyo?+
Longevity Tokyo is the Tokyo chapter of Longevity Cities, a free and non-commercial community for healthy ageing. It opens with Walk & Sip, a 5 km morning walk from Tsukiji to Hama-rikyu Gardens with a drink in hand, and is built around movement, conversation and evidence-based habits. Anyone interested can join, no scientific background required.
Is there a longevity clinic or longevity doctor in Tokyo?+
Tokyo has private clinics and hospitals that offer comprehensive health check-ups, but Longevity Tokyo is not one of them: we are a free community and do not diagnose or treat. Prices vary widely, so ask for a full itemised price including follow-up tests. Also check which physician is responsible and whether tests are guideline-based or experimental before you pay for extras.
Where can I test my biological age in Tokyo?+
Start with what Japan already offers: annual health checkups through your employer or municipality, which include blood pressure, blood lipids and blood sugar. Beyond that you can add an epigenetic age test, a private extended blood panel or fitness markers such as VO2max and grip strength, which you can estimate for free on this site. Epigenetic clocks differ between providers, so treat one result as a snapshot.
What longevity events and meetups are there in Tokyo?+
The first Longevity Tokyo meetup is Walk & Sip on Sunday, 11 October 2026 at 10:00, starting at Matcha Stand Maruni in Tsukiji. It is a walk of around 5 km ending at Hama-rikyu Gardens, hosted in English and Japanese. The chapter is young, so more formats will follow, and every new date appears in the calendar on this page.
Is there a walking group in Tokyo for meeting people?+
Yes: Walk & Sip is a friendly morning walk from Tsukiji towards Hama-rikyu Gardens, a landscaped garden by Tokyo Bay, with a coffee or matcha stop before you go. The pace is easy, the distance is about 5 km, and the route is built for talking. It suits newcomers and visitors as much as long-time residents, and you can come alone.
Are Longevity Tokyo events in English or Japanese?+
Walk & Sip is hosted in English and Japanese, with the announcement written in both languages, so Japanese speakers and English speakers can walk and talk together. That makes Longevity Tokyo a relaxed option for internationals living in or visiting Tokyo. Each future listing states its language, so you can see it before you register.
What does Walk & Sip cost?+
Joining Longevity Tokyo is free, and Walk & Sip adds only two small costs: the 300 yen admission to Hama-rikyu Gardens and whatever drink you buy at Matcha Stand Maruni. There is no fee for the walk or the group. The listing states these costs upfront, and future events will do the same for anything from entry to equipment.
Can I join Longevity Tokyo as a visitor or newcomer?+
Yes, visitors and newcomers are welcome: all adults can join, and English is used alongside Japanese, so you do not need to speak Japanese. Create a free account and look for a date in the calendar, such as Walk & Sip on 11 October 2026. You do not need any longevity knowledge or tracking gear, just comfortable shoes.
How do I join Longevity Tokyo and the WhatsApp group?+
Create a free account on this site, join the Tokyo WhatsApp group linked on this page and register for Walk & Sip in the calendar. The group is where questions, meeting points and new dates are shared between events. You can also ask there where to find a biohacking or healthy-living community in Tokyo, since members compare notes there.
