Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about longevity

What is longevity?
Longevity refers to living a long and healthy life. It goes beyond just lifespan — it focuses on healthspan, the number of years you live in good physical and mental health. Modern longevity science combines nutrition, exercise, sleep, social connection, and preventive medicine to help people not just live longer, but live better.
What is the longevity community in Germany?
Longevity Switzerland is the largest science-based longevity community in Germany with active chapters in Munich, Berlin, Hamburg, Frankfurt, Cologne, Nuremberg, and more. We organize free events including morning raves, cold plunges, expert talks, and health meetups. Our community connects longevity enthusiasts, scientists, doctors, and innovators who want to optimize their healthspan together.
What is biological age and how is it different from chronological age?
Chronological age is the number of years since your birth. Biological age measures how well your body is actually aging based on biomarkers like DNA methylation, metabolic health, and cellular function. Two people born the same year can have very different biological ages. You can estimate your biological age through epigenetic tests or our free AI-powered photo age test.
How can I live longer and healthier?
Evidence-based strategies for longevity include regular exercise (both cardio and strength training), a nutrient-dense diet rich in vegetables and lean protein, quality sleep of 7-9 hours, stress management, strong social connections, and avoiding harmful habits like smoking and excessive alcohol. Community and purpose are also key factors observed in Blue Zones — regions where people live the longest.
What are Blue Zones?
Blue Zones are five regions in the world where people live significantly longer than average: Okinawa (Japan), Sardinia (Italy), Nicoya (Costa Rica), Ikaria (Greece), and Loma Linda (California). Research shows their longevity comes from plant-forward diets, daily natural movement, strong community ties, sense of purpose, and moderate caloric intake.
Is joining Longevity Switzerland free?
Yes, joining our community is completely free. We offer free community events across Germany, a free AI-powered biological age photo test, evidence-based articles and guides, an interactive map of health-optimized spots, and access to our community of longevity enthusiasts and experts. Our mission is to make longevity science accessible to everyone.
